how to get to PerdikaSituated at the southern part of "Thesprotia" prefecture, opposite the southern end of Corfu island, the community of Perdika is made up of Perdika itself and a much smaller village called Arillas totalling a population of about 2000 people who are mainly involved in olive-oil production as well as tourism in the past few years. There are a lot of emigrants mainly in Germany and Belgium as well as a number of people who, originating in Perdika, live and work in Athens.

You can reach it by turning left off the main Athens to Igoumenitsa road at Karteri (point 2 on the map) into a 12km road through the mountains (fastest route). Alternatively, if you are coming from Igoumenitsa, you can turn right at Plataria (3) and head for Perdika through Syvota or, if you are coming from Athens, turn left to Parga (1) and drive through the villages Anthousa and Agia.

Nearest airports at Corfu and Aktion, Preveza (about 70km to the south)

View of the villageOnly if you take the Karteri to Perdika road will you have to drive through the village itself. Coming from either Syvota or Parga you will reach its last houses.

From the village of Perdika there's a road to Parga. You will have to turn right ("to beaches" sign) soon after the village and keeping on the asphalt road continue to Sofas, Kamini, Agali, Ag. Paraskevi and Mega Drafi beaches, or turning soon again left into the first asphalt road you meet (signposted) you can head to Arillas, Stavrlolimenas and Karavostasi.

View of the central square of PerdikaAt the village square, or right next to it, you can find anything you need apart from a bank (yet). There are restaurants, supermarkets, fast food restaurants, cafes, tavernas and even a disco.

At midnight and even later the place is full of life and you can see even children playing there while their parents are enjoying an ouzo or a retsina keeping an eye on them. Teenagers and young people in their 20s will come out at about 11 to have a cup of coffee getting ready for the long night to come.

Right next to it there's a smaller square with a playground παιδική χαρά [PHOTO]

The town hall [PHOTO], our open-air theatre [PHOTO] where the cultural events of the summer take place, the folk museum and the cultural centre of the village [PHOTO] are also located at the main square.

"PARATIRITIRIO" - PERDIKA

"Paratiritirio", at the end of a short road (a kind of extension of the square with shops on each side), is a place with a breathtaking view you can't afford to miss. You can see the coast to Syvota and the biggest part of the island of Corfu.

The Sunset at "Paratiritirio" - PERDIKAThe sunset from there is a must.

In the summer the sun sets behind the island of Corfu, right in front of you and the colours of the sky can be fantastic. You may find yourself gazing at it for a long time.
